We Said Yes :)

I said “Yes!” 🙂

Two years ago, my husband (fiance then) went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. A midst all the emotions I managed to say “Yes! Yes I will marry you”. That 3 letter word shifted the tempo of  our lives; all roads led to destination marriage. The ‘Yes’ meant preparations were underway:- family negotiations, pre-marital counseling and wedding planning. It was a beautiful journey.

Exactly one year later, in the heart of Naivasha we finally got married 🙂 I remember it as if it was yesterday, however, I feel like I’ve been married for a long-short time if you get what I mean. The duration may only be a year but the experiences are worth much more than a year.

He said “Yes!” and I said “Yes!” 🙂

The vows are the essence of the wedding. They may seem like simple words but they carry a lot of weight. The vows often said are:-

(Groom’s Full Name)_______________________will you have this woman to be your wedded wife? (Yes, I will) Will you love and comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto her as long as you both shall live? (Yes, I will)

(Bride’s Full Name)_______________________will you have this man to be your wedded husband? (Yes, I will) Will you love and comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto him as long as you both shall live? (Yes, I will)

Since it is your intention to enter into marriage, join your right hands, and declare your consent (before these witnesses) by repeating after me:

I, (Groom’s First Name)_______________________ take you (Bride’s First Name)_______________________ to be my
wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as we both shall live.

(Groom places ring on Bride’s finger and repeats after Officiator)(Bride’s First Name)_______________________ take this ring as a sign of my commitment and fidelity to you.

I, (Bride’s First Name)_______________________ take you (Groom’s First Name)_______________________ to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as we both shall live.

We said “Yes!” 🙂

On that day we stood before God and made a commitment to each other. We also made a commitment to God. That we would let Him be the third cord in our marriage, yes, that He would be the center of it all. We made a commitment to God that as ONE we would follow Him-His voice and His will.

We say “Yes!” 🙂

So this year and every day that He blesses us with life we say “Yes” to Him. That He may increase in our lives and marriage and we may decrease.

Marriage was and still is His idea, what better way to do it than to let Him be the center of it all.

For this far that He has brought us, we say that ALL THE GLORY BELONGS TO HIM.

In the same breath, I wish my lover and friend a Happy Birthday 🙂 I love you. You still make me smile 🙂

One year down, A lifetime to go.
